In this article the careers of Polish deputies and senators from IV, V and VI term of the Parliament were analyzed. The author shows that after 1989, more and more MPs had local government experience. From the V term deputies and senators with experience in local government comprise a majority of Parliament members. The author presents statistics about MPs, who worked in local government: to which parliamentary clubs they belong; at what level of local government they gained experience; what positions they occupied in local authorities. In this way, the author illustrates the process of recruiting the parliamentary elite out of representatives of local government.
