The article describes a number of barriers that determine the processes of shaping social and political attitudes of the younger generation in Poland. The author assumes that one of the most significant barriers is a distorted and dysfunctional communication in relationship between the authorities and young citizens. It is primarily a consequence of the decline (or insufficient level) of political elite’s credibility in the opinions of young people, shaping “uncivil” attitudes by politicians and – at last – marginalizing the problems and interests of young people in political and public discourse. Quoted results of empirical studies allow properly to prove thesis about the crisis of political leadership in Poland.
