W niniejszym opracowaniu podjęty został problem kształtowania się struktur agrarnych w państwach członkowskich Unii Europejskiej z wyróżnieniem przypadku Polski. Zwrócono przede wszystkim uwagę, iż pomimo założenia o dominującej roli rodzinnego charakteru gospodarstw rolnych w UE, struktury agrarne charakteryzują się znaczną różnorodnością. Jednocześnie tendencje do ich ujednolicenia nie występują, a zróżnicowanie jest utrzymywane między innymi dzięki różnorodności instrumentów Wspólnej Polityki Rolnej. W strukturze agrarnej w Polsce następuje przede wszystkim polaryzacja gospodarstw rolnych, polegająca na równoległym powstawaniu gospodarstw wielkoobszarowych oraz podmiotów o małej powierzchni, a proces ten prawdopodobnie będzie się nasilał w związku z rosnącym zapotrzebowaniem na pozaprodukcyjne funkcje rolnictwa i obszarów wiejskich.

In the paper the problem of development of the agricultural structures in the European Union member states was undertaken with the distinction of the case of Poland. The analyses show that despite the dominant role of family farms in the EU agriculture, the agrarian structure is characterized by significant diversity. At the same time tend to standardize them does not occur, and variation is maintained, inter alia, through the diversity of instruments of the Common Agricultural Policy. In the agrarian structure in Poland the polarization of farms takes place, which consists of the parallel emergence of large farms and those with a small area. This process is likely to be strengthened by the growing demand for non-productive functions of agriculture and rural development.
