El artículo Imágenes santas en láminas pintadas contiene la descripción de los retablos en México. Esta genuina rama del arte popular mexicano que ultimamente está bien reconocida por muchos especialistas del arte mexicano, está presente en muchas galerías del arte y museos en México y a la vez en los Estados Unidos. La autora describe dos tipos de los retablos mexicanos: retablos santos y retablos ex-votos. La bibliografia, fotos y observación de campo da una referencia al texto. La pintura de los retablos floreció en el siglo XIX sobre todo en los estados centrales de México y conocemos dos tipos de retablos: retablos santos y retablos ex-votos también conocidos como milagros. Estos objetos de devoción privada que representa imágenes de los santos o la Sagrada Familia gozaban de popularidad entre los siglos. Los artesanos mostraban su gusto por los ornamentos decorativos buscando obtener con ello una mayor calidad en sus pinturas. Por lo común no conocían ni las reglas de la anatomía ni de la perspectiva, por eso las personas o detalles al final obtenían simples formas en la pintura. Los retablos santos estaban presentes en la cultura popular hasta principios del siglo veinte – el momento en cual los cuadritos impresos en papel y litografías sustituyeron las imágenes pintadas en hoja de lata. Contrariamente a los retablos santos, ex-votos todavía existen en el espacio religioso de sus creyentes. Los milagros mexicanos nos cuentan unas historias excepcionales de sus donantes, quienes agradecidos por los milagros recibidos dan gracias a la Virgen de Guadalupe, al Santo Niño de Atocha o a un santo. La forma de los ex-votos contemporáneos continua la tradición de la pintura que incluye dos partes: la parte pintada que contiene al „fabricante del milagro” y la escena y, la parte escrita que describe la escena y el milagro obtenido. Ex-votos, al contrario de retablos santos, marcan un ejemplo de la relación directa entre la gente y lo sobrenatural. Siendo una fuente significante de la sensibilidad religiosa de la gente, los retablos nos dan el testimonio visible de la fe y la gracia por los milagros obtenidos. Tienen su poder autonómo de poder expresar las emociones humanas.

The article Saint images painted on tin contains the description of retablo painting in Mexico. This genuine branch of Mexican folk art ultimately widely recognized by many specialists of Mexican art now can be found in many art galleries and museums around Mexico and the United States. The author focuses on the retablos santos and retablos ex-votos giving the wide description of these two types of Mexian retablos. The text is accompanied by the wild bibliography, pictures and observation from the field research. The retablo painting flourished in 19th century mainly in the central states of Mexico and there are known two types of it: retablos santos and retablos ex-votos known as milagros. This object of a private devotion with the images of saints or the Holy Family, were very popular in the turn of the 19th and the 20th century. Naïve artist presented in their works their love for the decorative ornaments trying to obtain grand manner effect. Rules of anatomy and perspective were rather unknown to the artist and persons or articles portrayed were reduced to the simple shapes. Retablo paintings were widely common till the beginning of the 20th century when sacred pictures printed on paper replaced them and the coloured lithographs appeared on the market. Contrary to the retablos santos, ex-votos still are present in the in the religious space of its believers. Mexican milagros tell the unusual stories of their donors who being grateful for the received mercies give thanks to la Virgen de Guadalupe, Santo Niño de Atocha or some saint. The contemporary votive painting still remain its traditional form dived in two parts: painted part which includes a „mirackle-maker” and a scene, and a written one which is text describing the scene and a miracle received. Ex-votos, contrary to retablos santos, are a very fine example of direct relation between people and supernatural powers. Having been a very important source of people’s religious sensitivity, they give a true visible testimony of faith and gratitude for the received miracles. They have their autonomous force of expressing human emotions.
