Wiele projektów artystycznych tworzonych w latach 60. i 70. wskazywało, że instytucje kulturalne znajdują się w rękach konserwatywnej części społeczeństwa. Anglosaska akademia historii sztuki bada te działania artystyczne w kategoriach „krytyki instytucjonalnej”. Wydaje się, że pojęcie to – powstałe w 1975 roku w odniesieniu do sceny nowojorskiej – jest obecnie rozumiane jako kategoria uniwersalna. Na podstawie analizy Cultura: dentro y fuera del museo (1971) Lei Lublin w Muzeum Sztuk Pięknych w Santiago w Chile niniejszy artykuł proponuje umieścić refleksje na temat krytyki instytucjonalnej, bazując na pracach artystki migrantki.

During the sixties and seventies, a significant number of art projects pointed to cultural institutions as managers of conservative social representation. The Anglo-Saxon art history academy tends to study these art practices in terms of “institutional critique”. Coined in 1975 in relation to the New York scene, this notion seems now to be understood as a universal category. Through the analysis of Lea Lublin’s Culture: inside and outside the museum (1971) at the Fine Art Museum of Santiago, Chile, this paper proposes a situated reflection on institutional critique on the basis of this migrant artist’s work.
