Socially responsible investments are one of the most dynamically growing segments of the invest- ment and this market is very diverse. Most of the assets are invested at the European capital market but there is also a huge diversity within European markets. Socially responsible investments are dominated by the old member states of European Union, while the level of this investments is very low in the new member states. Among the new member states, Poland is a country with a leading role. The lack of uniform definitions of socially responsible investment, which is caused by the multiplicity of aspects related to these investments, can be a barrier for further development of this segment.
