W artykule tym, opierając się na polskiej i obcojęzycznej literaturze oraz własnych wieloletnich doświadczeniach autorki jako terapeutki integracji sensorycznej, przedstawione zostały zagadnienia dotyczące roli terapeuty w szeroko pojmowanym procesie autorehabilitacji dziecka z zaburzeniami przetwarzania sensorycznego. Jest to temat niezwykle ważny z punktu widzenia efektywności oddziaływań terapeutycznych i tym samym poprawy funkcjonowania każdego dziecka przejawiającego trudności i zaburzenia w tym zakresie. Zaprezentowane założenia terapii integracji sensorycznej, określone kierunki oddziaływań i dopuszczalne formy pomocy dziecku być może pozwolą czytelnikom lepiej zrozumieć istotę tej terapii i wpłyną na większą wrażliwość przy opracowywaniu specyficznych form stymulacji.

This article, based on Polish and foreign-language literature as well as author’s own manyyears of experience as a sensory integration therapist, presents the issues concerning the role of thetherapist in the broadly understood process of self-rehabilitation of the child with sensory processingdisorders. This is a topic of great importance from the point of view of the effectiveness of therapeuticinterventions and thereby improve the functioning of each child’s difficulties and problems in thisregard. Presented assumptions of sensory integration therapy, defined directions of impacts andacceptable forms of support for the child, perhaps help readers with better understanding the natureof this therapy and affect a greater sensitivity to the development of specific forms of stimulation.
