Polish legal system provides two forms of concluding the marriage: a civil one that is carried out in the presence of a government official, and a religious one that is an element of a church ceremony. Both of them result in the matrimony recognised by Polish law. Owing to the fact that the religious form is conducted without the assistance of the government official, it requires more conditions to be met. Making the marriage certificate is one of them, althoughsome jurists argue that it is always only a proof of concluding the marriage and should not affect the matrimony itself.
