The number of smart cities is constantly growing. Mayors invest in new technologies and justify the expenses regarding the residents’ needs. Considering only this one criterion, not all expenses can be justified. Is the life of people better in smart cities? What are the solutions most often implemented? What problems do we have in cities in Poland? Are residents smart? Is smart city not just a new marketing strategy for the city? Is it worth investing in new technologies in the city? What are the conseqences of these quick changes? The article is an attempt to answer the above mentioned questions.

Liczba miast smart city nieustannie rośnie. Burmistrzowie inwestują w nowe technologie, uzasadniając wydatki potrzebami mieszkańców. Biorąc pod uwagę tylko to jedno kryterium, nie wszystkie realizacje by się obroniły. Czy w smart city lepiej się żyje mieszkańcom? Jakie rozwiązania najczęściej są realizowane? Z jakimi problemami mamy do czynienia w miastach w Polsce? Czy mieszkańcy są smart? Czy smart city nie jest tylko nową strategią marketingową miasta? Czy warto inwestować w nowe technologie w mieście? Do czego prowadzą szybko postępujące zmiany? Artykuł zawiera próby odpowiedzi na postawione wyżej pytania.
