Odnalezienie przez autorkę dwóch polskojęzycznych panegiryków dedykowanych Konstancji z Denhoffów Sanguszkowej, które wyszły spod pióra anonimowego autora w II połowie XVIII wieku, stało się inspiracją do przypomnienia jej losów. Artykuł stanowi rekonstrukcję biografii księżnej na podstawie źródeł pamiętnikarskich. Przybliża historię dwóch nieszczęśliwych i kontrowersyjnych małżeństw, które wywołały skandal w dobie oświecenia: pierwszego z Januszem Aleksandrem Sanguszką – hulaką i homoseksualistą oraz drugiego z Józefem Rogalińskim – o wiele od niej młodszym materialistą. Kluczowy element biografii stanowi wyjazd księżnej na Pomorze, gdzie w czasach konfederacji barskiej znalazła schronienie i spokój. Zostaje wyjaśniona sporna kwestia lokalizacji jej pałacu w rodzinnym Gdańsku, którego błędny adres powielany jest przez wielu badaczy. Ponadto poruszono kwestię działalności księżnej Konstancji – filantropijnej i kulturalnej – związanej z angażowaniem się w prace oświeceniowego salonu towarzysko-literackiego Barbary Sanguszkowej, utworzonego w Gdańsku na wzór salonów warszawskich, który gromadził najznamienitszych przedstawiciel epoki.

Finding by the author of two Polish-language panegyrics dedicated to Konstancja Sanguszkowa from Denhoffs, which came from the pen of an anonymous author in the second half of the 18th century, became an inspiration to reminding of her fate. The article is a reconstruction of the duchess's biography based on journalistic sources. It introduces the story of two unhappy and controversial marriages that caused a scandal in the age of enlightenment: the first with Janusz Aleksander Sanguszko - a swinger and homosexual and the second with Józef Rogaliński - a much younger materialist. The key element of the biography is the duchess's departure to Pomerania, where she found shelter and peace during the Bar Confederation. The disputed issue of the location of her palace in her hometown of Gdansk, whose incorrect address is reproduced by many researchers, is resolved. In addition, the issue of the activities of Princess Konstancja - philanthropic and cultural - related to the involvement in the work of the enlightenment social and literary salon of Barbara Sanguszkowa, created in Gdansk modeled on the Warsaw salons, which gathered the most eminent representative of the era, is raised.
