Złożone były losy autografów i rysunków Leonarda da Vinci, zanim dotarły do naszych czasów. Jednym z ogniw w łańcuchu przekazu pism vinciańskich było ich przekazanie w ręce włoskiego rzeźbiarza Pompeo Leoniego, który osiadł w Hiszpanii. Testament tego rzeźbiarza rozwiewa wszelkie wątpliwości co do obecności w Hiszpanii ważnej kolekcji vincianów, choć jej opis w różnych testamentach rodziny Leoni nie pozwala w pełni zidentyfikować każdego z kodeksów, które do nas dotarły. W niniejszym artykule proponuje się identyfikację z trzema poziomami pewności na podstawie opisu notarialnego. Wśród zidentyfikowanych z pewnością znajduje się kolekcja różna, znajdująca się obecnie w Windsor Collection. Mniej pewna jest identyfikacja Codex Atlanticus w Bibliotece Ambrozjańskiej. Wreszcie pochodzenie kodeksów madryckich I i II można określić jako enigmatyczne, ponieważ chociaż wiadomo, że kolekcjoner Juan de Espina przekazał je królowi Hiszpanii, nie ma w dokumentach wzmianki o sposobie ich pozyskania.

Leonardo da Vinci’s autograph writings and drawings followed a complex fortune until they reached the present day. One of the links in the chain of transmission of the Vincian writings was their arrival in the hands of the Italian sculptor Pompeo Leoni, who settled in Spain. The will of this sculptor clears up any doubts about the presence of an important Vincian collection in Spain, although the description of it in the different wills of the Leoni family does not allow us to fully identify each of the codices that have come down to us. In this article a proposal is made for identification with three levels of certainty based on this notarial description. Among those identified with certainty is the miscellaneous collection now in the Windsor Collection. Less certain is the identification of the Codex Atlanticus, in the Biblioteca Ambrosiana. Finally, the provenance of the Madrid I and II Codices can be described as enigmatic, since, although it is known that the collector Juan de Espina bequeathed them to the King of Spain, there is no documentary reference to how they were acquired.

Los escritos autógrafos y dibujos de Leonardo da Vinci siguieron una compleja fortuna hasta llegar a nuestros días. Uno de los eslabones de la cadena de transmisión de los escritos vincianos fue su llegada a manos del escultor italiano Pompeo Leoni, afincado en España. El testamento de este escultor despeja cualquier duda sobre la presencia de una importante colección vinciana en España, aunque la descripción de la misma en los diferentes testamentos de la familia Leoni no permite identificar completamente cada uno de los códices que nos han llegado. En este artículo se hace una propuesta de identificación con tres niveles de certeza a partir de esta descripción notarial. Entre los identificados con certeza está la colección miscelánea ahora en la Windsor Collection. Menos segura es la identificación del Codex Atlanticus, en la Biblioteca Ambrosiana. Finalmente, la procedencia de los Códices de Madrid I y II puede calificarse de enigmática, ya que, aunque se sabe que el coleccionista Juan de Espina los legó al Rey de España, no existe referencia documental de cómo fueron adquiridos.
