Podjęta w publikacji problematyka została usytuowana w metodologii jakościowej. Celem badań jest poznanie obaw i dążeń do zmian w życiu 35–42-letnich bezdzietnych i niezamężnych kobiet. Wyniki badań dowiodły, że rozmówczynie mają obawy przed przyszłością. Czynniki, które je spotęgowały to: śmierć rodziców oraz doświadczanie samotności i brak poczucia sensu życia. Narratorki nie hołdują zasadzie Dziecko – tak, mężczyzna (małżeństwo, związek partnerski) – nie. Jednak kiedy już straciły nadzieję na poznanie odpowiedniego mężczyzny, i tym samym na bycie żoną, zaczęły myśleć tylko o byciu matką. Jednak ich pragnieniem było stworzenie rodziny pełnej, a nie model jeden plus jeden. Pomysły rozmówczyń na zostanie matką to: skorzystanie z banku nasienia, umawianie się ze znajomym mężczyzną oraz namiętny romans z nieznajomym mężczyzną w celu prokreacyjnym. Jednym z najistotniejszych problemów macierzyństwa odroczonego w czasie jest brak wsparcia w opiece nad dzieckiem ze strony dziadków.

The study presented in the publication was located in a qualitative methodology. The aim of the research was to understand concerns and aspirations for change in the lives of 35–42-year-old childless and unmarried women. The results have proved that the interviewees are anxious about future. Their anxiety has been exacerbated by the death of their parents, experienced loneliness, and lack of the sense of life. Since the participants had lost their hope to fi nd a right man and thus become a wife, they began to think about being a mother only. However, their true desire was to create a full family, not one plus one model. The use of the sperm bank, an arrangement with a male friend, or a passionate aff air with a stranger, were considered as possible ways for procreation. One of the most important problems of delayed motherhood envisaged by the examined women was the lack of support in childcare from grandparents.
