Celem badań własnych jest analiza obrazu ról społecznych babci i dziadka w percepcji dzieci w młodszym wieku szkolnym. Poszukiwano odpowiedzi na pytanie badawcze: o występowanie różnic w postrzeganiu przez badane dziewczynki i chłopców roli babci i dziadka (styl zaangażowany, towarzyski, zdystansowany). Zastosowano kwestionariusz ankiety w autorskim opracowaniu. W badaniach uczestniczyło trzydzieścioro dzieci w wieku jedenastu lat, w tym piętnaście dziewczynek i tyle samo chłopców. Wyniki ukazały kilka istotnych statystycznie różnic w postrzeganiu przez wnuków stylów pełnienia ról babci i dziadka. Badani chłopcy inaczej postrzegali więź zaangażowaną i towarzyską z babcią, a inaczej z dziadkiem. U wnucząt obu płci ujawniła się ta sama kolejność rozpoznawanych typów relacji: od zaangażowanego, przez towarzyski, do zdystansowanego. Ponadto obraz babci, jak i dziadka w oczach wnuczek i wnuków był pozytywny.

The purpose of the research was to analyze the image of social roles of grandmother and grandfather in the perception of children at a younger school age. Research question sought: for differences in the perception of the role of grandmother and grandfather girls and boys (involved/engaged, social/friendly, reserved/distanced). Based on literature, an original questionnaire was designed and used for research purposes. Thirty children at eleven years participated in the study, including fifteen girls and the same number of boys. The results showed several statistically significant differences in the grandchildren’s perception of grandmother and grandfather roles. The assessed boys differently perceived the engaged and social bond with their grandmother with the comparison to their grandfather. In the grandchildren of both gender, the same order of recognizable types of relationships emerged, from involved/engaged, through social/ friendly, to reserved/distanced. Both the image of grandmother and grandfather in perceptions of granddaughters and grandchildren were positive.
