W niniejszym opracowaniu autorzy starają się zbadać wpływ kryzysu dominującego sektora na potencjał gospodarczy miasta. Do tego celu utworzono indeks stabilności, który ukazuje trwałość pozycji miasta w ujęciu globalnej hierarchii ekonomicznej miast w odniesieniu do ich zrównoważonego rozwoju sektorowego ośrodka. Założeniem konstrukcji wskaźnika było przekonanie, że ośrodki, które mają wąską specjalizację sektorową, mimo ich często wysokiej pozycji gospodarczej, są bardziej wrażliwe na zmiany koniunktury światowej niż te miasta, w których strategiczne podmioty gospodarcze reprezentują różne sektory gospodarki. W niemal połowie analizowanych miast najbardziej rozwiniętymi sektorami były finanse (financials) oraz surowcowy (materials). Najbardziej zróżnicowanym kontynentem była Azja, gdzie nie ma wyraźnej dominacji sektorowej, natomiast stwierdzono taką w Europie i Ameryce Północnej. Wykazano także, iż wysoki poziom powiązań międzynarodowych generalnie negatywnie wpływa na odporność miasta na kryzys gospodarczy.

In this study, the authors want to explore the impact of the economic crisis of the dominant sector in the economic potential of the city. The stability index was created, to show the stability of the city's position in terms of global economic hierarchy of cities in terms of their sustainability sectoral development. The index structure was that centers that have a narrow sectoral specialization, despite their often high economic position, are more sensitive to changes in the global economy than the cities in which strategic business units represent different industry sectors. Almost half of the city's most developed sectors were financials and materials. Asia is the most diversed continent, where there is no clear main sector dominance, but this was found in Europe and North America. It was also shown that a high level of international conectivities generally has a negative impact on the resilience of the city to the economic crisis.
