Autorka proponuje analizę rozmaitych cezur przywoływanych w poemacie Adama Mickiewicza z uwzględnieniem założeń wypracowanej przez siebie koncepcji kulturowej antropologii literatury. Traktuje poemat jako świadectwo współistnienia szlacheckiej kultury cyrograficznej z residuami kultury oralnej i wskazuje, że istnieją różnice w zasadach stanowienia cezury między systemami kulturowymi fundowanymi w przewadze na pamięci społecznej a systemami opartymi głównie na wiedzy historycznej. Akcentuje znaczenie ostentacyjnego pomijania w narracjach o przeszłości momentów przełomowych w celu świadomego podtrzymywania tradycji i uzyskania efektu ciągłości trwania dominującego uprzednio systemu kulturowego.

The article proposes an analysis of various time marks, brought forth in Adam Mickiewicz’s epic poem, which is based on presuppositions drawn on the author’s self-developed concept of cultural anthropology of literature. The author recognises the epic poem as the evidence of coexistence between the written culture of noblemen and the residues of the oral one. What is more, she draws attention to fundamental differences in establishing time marks between cultural systems based mainly on collective memory and the ones based on historical knowledge. The author also highlights the importance of deliberate ignoring of breakthrough moments in the narration about the past just to sustain tradition and preserve the continuity of the previously dominant cultural system.
