Introduction. Artistic creation is currently facing new challenges, but it is also posing challenges to itself, as it is increasingly linked to the development of new technologies that are leading to changes in both the creation, and reception, of art. Art on the Internet, and net art (Internet/virtual art), or digital art, for which cyberspace has become a place closely related to the display of artistic creations, differ from each other, mainly because the art on the Internet exists outside the Web and is used only as a medium and one of many possibilities to reach the recipient, while for net art or digital art the Web becomes a material, a natural environment, a context, and in many cases the subject of their creations. Aim. The main aim of this article is to present how adolescents perceive digital painting, what meaning they attach to it in the process of creating their own creations and which places in cyberspace they choose as places to present the art they create. Methods. In this article, based on a literature review, an attempt is made to critically reflect on the values of digital art. Furthermore, this article also presents the preliminary results of a pilot study of the project Digital art: Adolescent art in cyberspace, which used a qualitative approach based on art-based research and arts-informed research. Conclusion. The results of the research indicate that referring to the experiences and themes close to young people, as well as enabling them to use digital means of artistic expression, approved by them, makes adolescents, involved in the creative process and actively looking for constructive opinions from others about their works, feel appreciated and it fulfi lls the need for self-realization.

Wprowadzenie. Twórczość artystyczna staje obecnie przed nowymi wyzwaniami, a także sama takie wyzwania przed sobą stawia. Coraz częściej powiązana jest ona z rozwojem nowych technologii prowadzących zarówno do zmian w tworzeniu, jak i odbiorze sztuki. Sztuka w Internecie różni się od net artu (sztuki Internetu/wirtualnej) czy digital artu (sztuki cyfrowej), dla których cyberprzestrzeń stała się miejscem ściśle powiązanym z ekspozycją wytworów artystycznych, choćby tym, że sztuka w Internecie istnieje przede wszystkim poza Siecią, a Internet wykorzystuje się w jej przypadku jedynie jako medium i jedną z wielu możliwości dotarcia do odbiorcy; dla net artu czy digital artu z kolei Sieć staje się tworzywem, naturalnym środowiskiem, kontekstem, a w wielu wypadkach również tematem wytworów. Cel. Głównym celem tego artykułu jest przedstawienie, w jaki sposób młodzież postrzega malarstwo cyfrowe (digital painting), jakie znaczenie mu przypisuje w procesie tworzenia własnych wytworów i które z miejsc w cyberprzestrzeni wybiera jako miejsca prezentacji tworzonej przez siebie sztuki. Metoda. W oparciu o przegląd literatury podjęto próbę krytycznej refleksji nad wartościami sztuki cyfrowej. Wskazano na wstępne wyniki badań pilotażowych projektu Digital art: Sztuka młodzieży w cyberprzestrzeni, w którym wykorzystano podejście jakościowe oparte na art-based research oraz arts-informed research. Wyniki. Wyniki badań wykazują, że odwołanie się do przeżyć i wątków bliskich młodzieży, umożliwienie jej wykorzystania aprobowanych przez nią samą, cyfrowych środków artystycznego wyrazu powoduje, że młodzi ludzie, zaangażowani w proces twórczy i aktywnie poszukujący konstruktywnych opinii innych na temat realizowanych przez siebie prac, czują się docenieni i zaspokajają potrzebę samorealizacji.
