NATO i UE.

The article is devoted to the evaluation of the Polish involvement in the process of stabilising the political situation in selected regions of Asia and its political and military consequences for Poland. The writer states that, regardless the divergence in defi ning the concept of peace missions, their eff ectiveness and political signifi - cance, the Polish army should actively participate in the processes of stabilising the international situation under the auspices of international organisations. This involvement will signifi cantly determine the Polish position on the international arena. However, it is legitimite to adopt a concept that what should be a priority for Poland are the missions carried out in their nearest sorroundings and the missions conducted by organisations on which Poland relies as regards its own safety, i.e. NATO and the EU. Furthermore, the decision on the involvement in stabilisation actions should be preceded by a detailed analysis of not only the crisis situation, the international context and potential benefi ts and losses, carried out principally on the political, economic, military and human level. An equally important element of these analyses should be an evaluation of the state possibilities in the context of an eff ective participation in a mission.
