Polityka nuklearyzacji Iranu stanowi jedno z zasadniczych zagrożeń bezpieczeństwa regionalnego na Bliskim Wschodzie oraz w wymiarze globalnym. W jej zwalczanie zaangażowała się Unia Europejska, która jako jeden z nielicznych na początku XXI wieku aktorów międzynarodowych posiadała możliwości pokojowego rozwiązania spornych kwestii. Prowadzona polityka, w którą zaangażowano także Radę Bezpieczeństwa ONZ poniosła fiasko, głównie w wyniku rozbieżności celów politycznych zarówno państw europejskich, jak i mocarstw światowych. Celem niniejszego opracowania jest prezentacja działań UE w kwestii irańskiego programu jądrowego oraz ocena jego skuteczności w latach 2008 -2011.

The policy of Iranian nuclearisation constitutes one of the principal threats to the regional security in the Middle East aff ecting also the global dimension. The European Union became involved in the fi ght against it possessing the possibilities of a peaceful solution to disputable issues, unlike most other international actors at the beginning of the 21st century. The conducted policy, where also the United Nations Security Council got engaged, ended in fiasco, mainly due to the discrepancy of political goals of both European states as well as of world powers. The aim of this study is the presentation of the EU actions regarding the Iranian nuclear programme and the evaluation of its eff ectiveness during the years of 2008-2011.
