Russian aggression on independent Ukraine brings more than the death of thousands of people and enormous destruction of infrastructure. Numerous cultural institutions, including museums, also suffer unrecoverable losses, caused not only by direct military action – artillery fire and bombing – but also by organised pillaging of cultural property perpetrated by the officials of the Russian Federation.
