The article presents the gift of counsel and how it is positioned in the virtue of prudence by Saint Thomas Aquinas in terms that enable it to be used in the aspect of management or leadership. According to Aquinas, the gift of counsel is the ability to recognise and evaluate different possibilities and to make sound decisions in the light of goodness and wisdom. For St Thomas, the gifts “perfect the psychic powers in relation to the Holy Spirit moving these powers”. On the backdrop of these reflections, the concept of persuasion as a complement and practical application of the virtue of counselling, in the key of influencing others in a spirit of exemplarism, was also presented and explained.
