Polish social work tradition in the face of new trends in social policy

Contemporary social work, and thus the social worker, face challenges. On the one hand, there are social problems and the key role of a social worker, on the other, new trends in social policy. In order to look at social work holistically, these areas should be treated in a compatible way . An investment social policy based on developed social services, multi-faceted and multi-professional inter-institutional, inter-sectoral and inter-ministerial cooperation, deinstitutionalization understood as a guarantee of respect for human rights and a better quality of life are the expectations set for today's changes The place of social work and the role of the social worker in the context of opportunities, challenges and threats leading to the subjectivity of the person in need being in the centre of any assistance activities is a key issue of the reflection. The essence of these changes should also be the development of professions and supporting professions. A chance for new solutions, new quality and finding an alternative social model that would be more effective and adapted to current social expectations are probably a challenge for a social worker as a coordinator, implementer of assistance activities and social services.

Współczesna praca socjalna, a co za tym idzie, pracownik socjalny, stoi przed wieloma wyzwaniami. Z jednej strony mamy problemy społeczne i kluczową rolę pracownika socjalnego, a z drugiej nowe trendy w polityce społecznej. Aby holistycznie spojrzeć na pracę socjalną, należy traktować te obszary kompatybilnie. Inwestycyjna polityka społeczna oparta na rozwiniętych usługach społecznych, wielopłaszczyznowa i multiprofesjonalna współpraca międzyinstytucjonalna, międzysektorowa i międzyresortowa, deinstytucjonalizacja rozumiana jako gwarancja poszanowania praw człowieka oraz lepsza jakość życia to oczekiwania stawiane dzisiejszym zmianom. Miejsce pracy socjalnej i roli pracownika socjalnego w kontekście szans, wyzwań i zagrożeń prowadzących do podmiotowości człowieka potrzebującego w centrum wszelkich działań pomocowych jest kluczową kwestią rozważań. Istotą tych zmian powinien być również rozwój zawodów i profesji pomocowych. Szansa na nowe rozwiązania, nową jakość oraz znalezienie alternatywnego modelu społecznego, który byłby bardziej skuteczny i dostosowany do aktualnych oczekiwań społecznych, są zapewne wyzwaniem dla pracownika socjalnego jako koordynatora, realizatora działań pomocowych, usług społecznych.
