Over the centuries, Łęczyca was conquered and sometimes destroyed in almost 100% (mainly during the northern wars with Sweden in the 17th and 18th centuries). The perpetrators of this were both enemies and their own troops. The town itself suffered the first serious material and population losses as a result of the Teutonic invasion in September 1331 (earlier, in 1294, the Lithuanians destroyed Tum, then organically connected with Łęczyca). Łęczyca suffered the last losses, mainly material ones, in January 1945, when the Germans retreating from the city destroyed several public buildings.

Łęczyca na przestrzeni wieków była zdobywana i czasami niszczona niemal w 100% (głównie w czasie wojen ze Szwecją w XVII i XVIII w.). Sprawcami tego były zarówno wojska obce, jak i polskie. W 1294 r. Litwini dokonali zniszczeń w Tumie, związanym wtedy organicznie z Łęczycą, natomiast pierwszych poważnych strat materialnych i ludnościowych miasto doznało wskutek najazdu krzyżackiego we wrześniu 1331 r. Ostatnie straty, głównie materialne, Łęczyca poniosła w styczniu 1945 r., kiedy to wycofujący się z miasta Niemcy zniszczyli kilka budynków użyteczności publicznej.
