The author presents World War II as a daily life experience under the German occupation as well as different ways of perception and research of the subject in question. In West European historiography the German occupation is analyzed from a national perspective and narrative that prevails in a given country with a strong focus on the Holocaust. Also in the East and Central European historiography prevail national narrative and insular analyzes of the situation of the Jewish population during the war. However, it lacks the contextualization of the experiences made by “the others” and the phenomenon of Holocaust is anchored in an empty space of memory of the countries in which it mainly happened.
