This article is concerned with libraries. Nowadays, despite the development of electronic media (e.g., e-books), public libraries are still of great importance. We can observe their amazing architectural changes and the improvement of their functionality. Some of them have changed their function: from the dissemination of knowledge and information to culture and social animation. Public libraries have been transforming themselves into meeting-places and centres of social and cultural initiatives. This is true especially about the small-town environments, where libraries function as centres of activity. But first of all, libraries should be open to changes.
