Wojciech Engelking Uniwersytet Warszawski, Warszawa, Poland [e-mail]   ГРАНИЦЫ СВОБОДЫ В МЫСЛИ ФЕДОРА ДОСТОЕВСКОГО И АЛЕКСИСА ДЕ ТОКВИЛЯ Резюме Проблематика свободы в произведениях Достоевского обсуждалась много раз: с одной стороны, в качестве борьбы русского писателя с христианской трактовкой свободы воли, с другой стороны, как проблемы индивидуализма (и) своеволия, возникшие из социалистических политических систем. Следует отметить, что проблема своеволия в творчестве Достоевского, реализуемая в, возможно, самой радикальной форме - самоубийства, часто сочетается с раньше пренебрегаемой метафорой „Америки”, которую Достоевский создал на основании Демократии в Америке Алексиса де Токвиля. Настоящая статья является попыткой сопоставления двух концепций своеволия через призму романтического наследия обоих авторов, а также анализом того, как Достоевский разработал свою концепцию на основании произведения Токвиля. THE BOUNDARIES OF FREEDOM IN THOUGHT OF FYODOR DOSTOEVSKY AND ALEXIS DE TOCЙUEVILLE Summary The issue of freedom in Dostoyevsky’s writings had been considered many times: as, on the one hand, the Russian writer’s struggle with the Christian doctrine of free will, on the other hand - the problems of individualism (and) willfulness, carried by the socialist political systems. It should be noted that the problem of arbitrariness of Dostoyevsky’s writings in perhaps it’s most radical realization - suicide - was often combined with previously neglected metaphor of „America”, which Dostoevsky developed through Alexis de Tocqueville’s Democracy in America. This paper is an attempt of juxtapositioning of two concepts read through the prism of the romantic heritage of both authors, and the analysis of an Dostoevsky’s work on the concept formed by Tocqueville.
