Centralization and decentralization are two complementary conceptions. If we want to have democracy we need them both. Generally in most of the countries of Western Europe we have centralization and decentralisation working together. Most governments prefer centralization but decentralization is the best way to take care of even small villages. The aim of this article is to show influence of the conditions of political system. These conditions form different shapes of the local government which appear, especially for this analysis in selected countries of Western Europe: Grate Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland.
