Artykuł jest polemiką z esejem Mirosławy Chudej zatytułowanym Błędny czytelnik (zob. M. Chuda, Błędny czytelnik, „Ethos” 29(2016) nr 4, s. 385-388). Polemika dotyczy głównie powinowactw między czytaniem a innymi nałogami (jak siecioholizm czy narkomania) oraz znaczenia i podstawowych funkcji literatury w życiu człowieka.

The paper includes a polemics with Mirosława Chuda’s essay “A Reader Errant” (see Mirosława Chuda, “A Reader Errant,” Ethos 29:4(116) (2016): 385-388). The polemics focuses on the seeming affinities between the habit of reading and addictions of other kinds, such as e.g. Internet addiction or substance abuse, and on the significance and the basic roles of books in human life.
