The focus of this paper is the question whether system level phraseological equivalents appear automatically in translation, in other words at discourse level. In addition, the author also analyses what translation transfer operations are at the disposal of the translator when a Hungarian phrase has no system level equivalent in German. The investigation also covers the following questions. When do phrases have translation relevance? What is the connection between the types of translation relevance and the translation transfer operations applied? When can a translation seen as ‘equivalent’?

Związek pomiędzy ekwiwalencją frazeologiczną na płaszczyźnie langue i na poziomie dyskursu W artykule rozpatrywana jest kwestia, czy istnienie frazeologizmu na płaszczyźnie systemowej wpływa automatyczne na jego tłumaczenie, lub – innymi słowy – na jego pojawienie się na poziomie dyskursu. Autorka analizuje również, jakimi operacjami transferującymi dysponuje tłumacz w przypadku, gdy węgierski frazeologizm, przekładany na język niemiecki, nie posiada ekwiwalentu na płaszczyźnie systemowej. Analiza dotyczy także następujących zagadnień: kiedy frazeologizmy są istotne dla tłumaczenia, jaki jest związek między typami relewancji przekładowej i zastosowanymi operacjami transferu oraz kiedy przekład można uznać za ‘ekwiwalentny’?
