Like the communication as a whole, the argumentation cannot be imagined without “Culture” as its context. This Research Paper comprises the intercultural Arabic and German Argumentation styles. It applies and modifies the argumentation scheme of Toulmin and delivers the proof that this argumentation scheme is not only not partly applicable for the analysis of argumentation as a whole, but also completely insufficient for the intercultural argumentations analysis. The following contribution analyses the Arabic and the German statements of the civil society’s actors which were made during the international discourse regarding the freedom of art/speech and the respect of religion which became known in 2012. Arabic and German argumentations have, thus, the same discourse subject. This research Paper assumes that the same topic of discourse is the ideal frame for the analysis and comparison of intercultural discourses. The results of this analysis can be used in teaching intercultural competency as well in teaching foreign languages.

Niemiecki i arabski styl argumentacji. Analiza lingwistyczna Argumentowanie jako istotny element komunikacji nie istnieje bez kontekstu kulturowego. Chodzi przy tym zarówno o wzorce kulturowe, jak również o stopień ich adaptacji przez uczestników interakcji. Niniejszy artykuł prezentuje analizę porównawczą stylu argumentacji w niemieckim i arabskim społeczeństwie obywatelskim. Jej podstawą jest zmodyfikowany model argumentacyjny Toulmin’a, który pozwala uchwycić interkulturowe cechy w sposobie argumentowania. Pokazany tu niemiecki i arabski materiał empiryczny uwzględnia prowadzony w 2012 roku dyskurs o wolności sztuki z jednej i respekcie wobec religii z drugiej strony. Autor przedstawia styl argumentacji stosowany przez różnych uczestników tego dyskursu w niemieckiej i arabskiej przestrzeni publicznej.
