W artykule omówiono stanowiska występujące w krajach Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej w sprawie potrzeby tworzenia systemów zapewniania jakości kształcenia w szkolnictwie wyższym. Przeanalizowano przyczyny zainteresowania tym problemem zarówno rządów, jak i władz uczelni. Sporo miejsca poświęcono akredytacji; została ona w ostatnich latach wprowadzona w kilku krajach Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej w celu zapewnienia odpowiedniego poziomu kształcenia w szkołach wyższych. Ponadto zwrócono uwagę na wieloznaczność używanych terminów dotyczących jakości kształcenia i jej oceny.

The paper discusses attitudes regarding the requirement to establish higher education quality assurance systems in post-communist countries. The reasons of the state and of the higher education institutions authorities interest in the issue are discussed. Some paragraphs are devoted to the question of accreditation. Recently, the accreditation institutions were introduced in some countries of the region to secure the appropriate education quality. Also, attention was paid to the ambiguity of the terminology regarding the quality of education and the quality assessment.
