Logistics costs research concepts and methods and their location within the world

The development of research and methodology for the identification and quantification of the level and structure of logistics costs and their determinants within the world is very important to recognize the status as well as the trends of development of logistics costs. As a result, it is possible to make rational decisions in the field of logistics processes management and contemporary logistics potential creation. The article presents an overview and assessment of the current research on the diagnosis and quantification of the logistics costs in a global scale. Particular attention was paid to the categorization of the main dimensions of the used and developed research concepts, to the methodology and application of the research, and to the geographical location of the research undertaken and continued. Subsequently, the paper presents a comparison of the logistics costs level in several countries and their place within Logistics Performance Index (LPI) ranking, which is characterized by performance and “health” of the global logistics. The research results may confirm the hypothesis that the countries with the steadily growing interest in research and rationalization of logistics costs can reach a high position in the LPI ranking and vice versa. In the light of the issues outlined above the new emerging trends and challenges have been indicated.

Rozwój badań i metodologii w zakresie identyfikacji i kwantyfikacji poziomu i struktury kosztów logistyki w skali światowej oraz upowszechnianie doświadczeń w tym zakresie mają istotne znaczenie dla pogłębienia, a także zobiektywizowania stanu rozpoznania tendencji rozwojowych kosztów i ich determinant oraz dla utrwalenie Świadomości o rosnącej roli logistyki we współczesnej gospodarce jako orientacji i systemowe determinanty wzrostu efektywności przedsiębiorstw. W artykule przedstawiono przegląd i ocenę aktualnych badań w diagnostyce i kwantyfikacji kosztów logistycznych w skali globalnej.
