The article discusses the basic issues related to tax returns (declarations). Since no formal definition exists, analysed is the function and specificity of this major facultative element of the normative structure of tax, seeking to indicate the constitutive features of every tax return.

W niniejszym artykule omówiono podstawową problematykę związaną z zagadnieniem deklaracji podatkowych. Z uwagi na brak ogólnej definicji formalnej autor poddaje analizie funkcję i specyfikę tego najważniejszego, fakultatywnego elementu normatywnej konstrukcji podatku w celu wskazania konstytutywnych cech, jakimi charakteryzuje się każda deklaracja.
