Funkcjonujące w 2. połowie XIX w. i w okresie międzywojennym liczne wadowickie wypożyczalnie i biblioteki obfitowały w różnorodność książek i tytułów wydawniczych. W zbiorach Muzeum Miejskiego w Wadowicach znajduje się sporo egzemplarzy ze stemplami tych wypożyczalni. Pieczątki biblioteczne odbijane były w bardzo różnych miejscach książki. Najczęściej umieszczano je na kartach tytułowych od strony lica lub odwrocie, na ostatniej stronie, a często na innej w środku bloku, dodatkowo na tablicach ilustracyjnych, szczególnie na mapach lub cennych grafikach. Pieczątki częściej mają charakter opisowy, choć zdarzają się także wzbogacone o elementy np. godła, herbu lub symbolu. Niekiedy pieczątki bywają anulowane w momencie selekcji zbiorów i przeznaczania jakiejś ich części do obrotu księgarskiego lub do innych bibliotek. Wówczas używa się dodatkowych pieczątek z napisem typu „Wycofano ze zbiorów…” lub „skasowane” krzyżem ukośnym. Czasami egzemplarze dodatkowo opieczętowane są formułą: „Uprasza się nie niszczyć książek”.

The numerous libraries and libraries in Wadowice, which operated in the second half of the 19th century and in the interwar period, abounded in a variety of books and publishing titles. In the collection of the City Museum in Wadowice there are many copies with the stamps of these rentals. Library stamps were imprinted in very different places in the book. Most often they were placed on the title cards from the front side or the reverse, on the last page, and often on a different one in the middle of the block, additionally on illustration boards, especially on maps or valuable graphics. Stamps are more often descriptive, although they are also enriched with elements such as an emblem, coat of arms or symbol. Sometimes the stamps are canceled when the collections are selected and some part of them is allocated to the bookstore circulation or to other libraries. Then, additional stamps are used with the words "Withdrawn from the collections ..." ("Wycofano ze zbiorów...") or "deleted" ("skasowano") with a diagonal cross. Sometimes the copies are additionally sealed with the following formula: "Please do not destroy the books" )"Uprasza się nie niszczyć książek").
