Abstracts
The aim of this work is to analyse the form and function of the newspaper headlines. Most often they perform the informative function. They provide a summary of the whole article. Their purpose is to drew the readers’ attention and to encourage them to read the whole article. They frequently evoke emotional reactions and sometimes they may even shock the readers. The headlines are supposed to be intriguing and implicit. A journalist has to remember not to manipulate the readers but to present them with the info. That is confirmed. A journalist musn’t harm the reader they have to realize that they shape the readers’ views and influence the public opinion.
