The aim of this paper is to examine whether the Sermon on the Mount (Mt 5 – 7), described as „the constitution of the Kingdom of God”, can also inspire an ecological spirituality. The focus will be particularly on the passage on the accumulation of wealth and excessive care (Mt 6,19 – 34). Modern man’s relationship with the world has always been marked, on the one hand, by an immoderate thirst for possessions and, on the other, by an excessive concern for the future. A change in attitude can come about as a result of a renewed look which sees nature not only as raw material and something to be used, but also sees its intrinsic value and beauty. It is precisely such a deepened view that opens man to the Creator, whom Jesus presents as Father in heaven. The relationship to God will constitute a key element of Christian ecological spirituality, distinguishing it from other types of spirituality.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest zbadanie, czy Kazanie na Górze (Mt 5 – 7), określane jako „konstytucja Królestwa Bożego” może stanowić również inspirację dla duchowości ekologicznej. W centrum uwagi będzie znajdował się fragment dotyczący gromadzenia bogactw oraz nadmiernej troski (Mt 6,19 – 34). Odniesienie współczesnego człowieka do świata zawsze było naznaczone z jednej strony nieumiarkowaną żądzą posiadania, z drugiej zaś rodzącą się z niej nadmierną troską o przyszłość. Zmiana postawy może nastąpić w efekcie odnowionego spojrzenia, które postrzega przyrodę nie tylko jako surowiec i materiał do wykorzystania, ale dostrzega także jej wsobną wartość oraz piękno. Właśnie takie pogłębione spojrzenie otwiera człowieka na Stwórcę, którego Jezus przedstawia jako Ojca w niebie. Relacja do Boga będzie stanowiła kluczowy element duchowości ekologicznej, odróżniający ją od innych typów duchowości.
