Celem artykułu jest pokazanie różnorodności społecznych filozofii korporacji oraz połączenie ich z różnymi systemami nadzoru korporacyjnego, występującymi we współczesnych narodowych regulacjach i polityce korporacyjnej. Autorzy opisują trzy koncepcje korporacji: kontraktualną, społeczną i koncesjonalną oraz dwa zasadnicze modele nadzoru korporacyjnego: rynkowy i sieciowy.
