The subject of this paper is the analysis of Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s theology, in particular his Christology, to show selected models of his interpretation of the Passion of Christ. For the German theologian, God’s incarnation, crucifixion and resurrection were inseparable, which obliged the author of the paper to keep the focus on all three, while at the same time never losing sight of the cross, which is the center of protestant theology. To analyze this particular topic, the author focuses first on showing the Passion as God’s humiliation and elevation. Secondly, she explains the connection between the Passover and the New Creation. Then she analyses Bonhoeffer’s ecclesial model of the Passion, and finally examines his so-called nonreligious interpretation. The paper shows that Bonhoeffer’s models of the Passion are intrinsically connected with the evangelical theology of cross. It also shows theologian’s interest in anthropological aspects of the Passion.
