In the article were shown the results of cross-sectional and dynamic analysis of diversification of the level and structure of household debt and the problems with its repayment in the EU countries over the period 2005-2009. In the article the multidimensional methods of data analysis (cluster analysis – k-means method) which enabled to classify the households in the EU according to the characteristics that were used describe its debt. Moreover, in order to determine the quantitative relationships between the level of household debt, and between the frequency of occurring the problem with debt repayment, the tools of correlation and regression analysis were used.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki analizy przekrojowo-dynamicznej zróżnicowania poziomu zadłużenia gospodarstw domowych oraz skali problemów z jego obsługą w krajach UE w okresie 2005-2009. W badaniu zastosowano metody analizy wielowymiarowej (analiza skupień – metoda k-średnich), umożliwiające klasyfikację gospodarstw domowych krajów UE według cech opisujących ich zadłużenie. Ponadto, w celu określenia związków ilościowych między a częstością występowania problemów z jego spłatą, zastosowano narzędzia analizy korelacji i regresji krokowej.
