The article looks at the situation of Polish and European small and medium enterprises (SMEs) after the crisis (2007–2009) in reference to sources of their financing. First section provides definitions and insights into economic indicators for SMEs. In the second section, the outcomes of surveys on sources of the SMEs’ financing are discussed. Next, the author presents investment financing sources and draws a comparison of investment propensity for the sector. Last section focuses on the analysis of financial situation of Polish SMEs after 2009.
