Zestawienie ikony i nowoczesności w temacie artykułu może sugerować różne zagadnienia, przede wszystkim nasuwać myśl o refleksji nad nowoczesnymi – czy raczej współczesnymi – ikonami. Głównym wątkiem poruszanym w artykule będzie jednak ikona jako zjawisko estetyczne, religijne i metafizyczne, ujęte w perspektywie możliwych strategii recepcji nowoczesnej i współczesnej.

The juxtaposition in the title of icon and modernity can suggest different issues. In the first place it can make one think of reflection on modern – or rather contemporary – icons. However, the main thread of my article is dedicated to icon as an aesthetic, religious and metaphysical phenomenon, taken in the perspective of possible strategies of modern and contemporary reception.
