Zasadniczym celem artykułu jest próba odpowiedzi na dwa pytanie: – Czy przyjmowanie sakramentu bierzmowania spełnia warunki aktu performatywnego? – Czy młodzież gimnazjalna przystępująca do bierzmowania jest świadoma swojej decyzji i czy jest dobrze przygotowana do przyjęcia tego sakramentu? Artykuł w pierwszej części ma charakter teoretyczny (próba przypomnienia istoty sakramentu bierzmowania), natomiast w drugiej części – komunikatu naukowego (przedstawienie syntetyczne uzyskanych wyników badań). Metodami przyjętymi w przeprowadzonych badaniach były: metoda sondażu diagnostycznego przy użyciu ankiety środowiskowej oraz metoda analizy ilościowej i jakościowej.

The main aim of the article is to try to answer the following two questions: – Does taking the sacrament of confirmation satisfy the conditions of a performative act? – Are junior high school students who face confirmation aware of their decision and are ready to take this sacrament? The first part of the article is theoretical (an attempt to remind the essence of the confirmation sacrament), the second part is a scientific message (a synthetic presentation of research results). The methods used to carry out the reasearch included: the method of a diagnostic survey with the use of a questionnaire, and the method of a quantity and quality analysis.
