In Poland after 1989, there was no situation in which the local government unit was dissolved due to indebtedness. The first such case is the Ostrowice commune, which on January 1, 2019 will disappear from the map of Poland. Given the indebtedness of local governments in Poland, it can be expected that in the future such situations will occur more often. This is a serious problem, which has a multidimensional background, and its solution requires numerous reforms. The example of the Ostrowice commune shows only some of the difficulties faced by local governments in Poland.
