Biblioteki publiczne są predestynowane do działań na rzecz mniejszości narodo­wych. Zarówno w Polsce, jak i w całej Europie prowadzą różnorodne inicjatywy adresowane do obcokrajowców. Czy w działalności innych typów bibliotek jest miejsce na wielokulturowość? W środowisku akademickim współpraca międzynarodowa to standard. Jedną z jej form są wyjazdy pracowników w celach szkoleniowych lub prowadzenie zajęć dydaktycznych oraz staże studenckie w ramach programu Erasmus. Beneficjenci programu Erasmus przebywający na polskich uczelniach z reguły nie posługują się językiem polskim. Czy oferta bibliotek uniwersyteckich w Polsce uwzględ­nia potrzeby tej grupy czytelników lub potencjalnych czytelników? Celem artykułu jest podjęcie zagadnienia tworzenia przez biblioteki uczelni wyższych oferty liczącej się z potrzebami międzynaro­dowej społeczności akademickiej.

Public libraries are predestined to act for the benefit of national minorities. Both in Poland and throughout Europe, public libraries run various initiatives specifically addressed to foreigners. Is there any space for multiculturalism in the activities of other library types? In the aca­demic environment, international cooperation is a standardized set of activities within the Erasmus programme, for example, external employee training or conducting classes for foreign students or student internships. The beneficiaries of the Erasmus programme studying at Polish universities usually do not speak Polish at all. Does the university library in Poland include the information and communication needs of this particular group of users or such potential users? The aim of the article is to discuss the idea of creating an offer by the university libraries that meets the needs of the international academic community.
