Kurator sądowy pełni bardzo istotną rolę w całym systemie zapobiegania przestępczości. Ustawa opisuje kuratora jako pracownika merytorycznego sądu, który spełnia określone przez prawo zadania związane z wykonywaniem orzeczeń sądu. Z pracą kuratora łączą się różnego rodzaju problemy, a celem nadrzędnym podejmowanych działań jest dokonanie zmiany. Osoby znajdujące się pod dozorem charakteryzuje trudność w realizacji stawianych zadań, uzależnienie od alkoholu, a także problemy w nawiązywaniu szczerych relacji z bliskimi. Mnogość problemów nakazuje podjęcie działań interdyscyplinarnych. Stałe są natomiast wartości, które w sposób oczywisty wspierają proces resocjalizacji. Wartość jest pojęciem dominującym, a sam kurator sądowy jest w wielu przypadkach osobą, do której skazani zwracają się, chcąc zmienić swoje życie.

A probation officer has a very important role in the crime prevention system. The act describes a probation officer as a court’s employee in charge, who performs tasks specified by law, related to enforcing court decisions. Work of a probation officer involves dealing with various problems, and the superior goal of a probation officer’s actions is to lead to a change in the behaviour of a person in charge. People under probation often have difficulties with fulfilling given tasks, suffer from alcohol addiction or have problems with establishing sincere relations with people who are closest to them. The multitude of problems results in the need to employ interdisciplinarians. Values that support the resocialisation process in an obvious way are incommutable. Value becomes a dominating notion, and the probation officer in many cases becomes a person who convicted people address to change their lives.
