The article consists of three parts. In the first the author points out selected issues of pension economics. The plot of the part revolves around System emerytalny by M. Góra. His stand is crucial because of the fact that he was a co-designer of the Polish pension system. The second part contains the evolution of the projects of the Polish system and the outline of its final form (from economic aspects). In the third part the author describes selected criticisms of the Polish construction.

Artykuł składa się z trzech części. W pierwszej autor prezentuje wybrane zagadnienia ekonomii emerytalnej w świetle poglądów M. Góry. Osią jest publikacja tego ekonomisty pt. „System emerytalny”. Prezentowane poglądy są istotne dla zrozumienia konstrukcji polskiego systemu emerytalnego, ponieważ ich autor był współtwórcą reformy z 1999 r. Druga część artykułu zawiera ewolucję projektów systemu oraz zarys jego ostatecznej wersji z perspektywy ekonomicznej. W trzeciej części prezentowane są wybrane głosy krytyki, formułowane wobec polskiego systemu po pierwszej dekadzie funkcjonowania.
