The paper contains the timeline of the most important legislation on social insurance on Polish territory between 1918–2018. A few periods are distinguished: 1) from the Polish independence in 1918 until the German and Soviet occupation in 1939, 2) the second world war occupation 1939–1945, 3) the communist era 1944–1989, the democratic and free-market transition period 1989–1998, the period of the functioning of the reformed social insurance system 1999–2018. The timeline demonstrates the 100-year evolution of the scope, fundamental principles and financial framework of the social insurance in Poland mirrored in the most important primary legislation. The timeline may constitute a source of useful, basic information on the subject for other reaserchers.

Artykuł stanowi kalendarium najważniejszych przepisów prawa ubezpieczeń społecznych, głównie rangi ustawowej (ustawy, dekrety, rozporządzenia z mocą ustawy), wybranych z bogatej, stuletniej historii tej gałęzi legislacji w Polsce. Wyróżniono następujące okresy: II Rzeczpospolitej (1918–1939), okupacji wojennej (1939–1945), Polski Ludowej (1944–1989), transformacji ustrojowej (1989–1998), zreformowanego systemu ubezpieczeń społecznych (1999–2018). Kalendarium ukazuje ewolucję zakresu, podstawowych zasad funkcjonowania, głębokości uprawnień i ram finansowych systemu ubezpieczeń społecznych oraz może stanowić przydatne źródło informacji oraz orientacji w tym obszarze dla innych badaczy.
