The article analyses the coordination of social security systems as an instrument for realisation of the free movement of persons within the European Union. The coordination rules guarantee retaining full advantages offered by national social security schemes, regardless of the decision to move to another EU Member State. The coordination is functioning in a dynamic environment, and because of that the impact of any new regulations should be carefully monitored, especially in the field of applicable legislation.

W artykule omawiana jest koordynacja systemów zabezpieczenia społecznego jako instrument realizacji swobody przepływu osób w Unii Europejskiej. Zasady koordynacji gwarantują zachowanie przez osoby, które zmieniają miejsce zamieszkania i pracy na obszarze Unii Europejskiej, korzyści oferowanych przez krajowe systemy zabezpieczenia społecznego. Koordynacja funkcjonuje w dynamicznym środowisku, co wymaga stałego monitorowania i oceny skutków oddziaływania proponowanych przepisów prawa unijnego, szczególnie w zakresie ustawodawstwa właściwego.
