“Konteksty Kultury” (“Cultural Contexts”) is a quarterly, peer-reviewed journal devoted to literary texts and their contexts. This broad formula makes the journal a forum for various movements and approaches in literary studies. Adherents of traditional philology encounter followers of new trends in the human sciences; linguists meet philosophers and sociologists of literature; junior researchers confront experienced masters. The journal publishes texts distinguished by high quality, clarity of argument, and the will to enter into dialogue with the reader. The journal was established in 2005 by Professor Stanisław Gawliński, who remained the editor-in-chief until 2017. Originally, it was published by the Teacher Training College of Bielsko-Biała; since 2015, it has been affiliated with the Faculty of Polish Studies of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. “Konteksty Kultury” is edited by literary scholars from the Jagiellonian University, while its advisory board consists of eminent experts in the humanities, both Polish and foreign (Belgium, Brazil, United Kingdom, Netherlands and United States). Since 2017, the journal has regularly published special theme issues.
