The paper focuses on the current state of criminalistics as a science and academic discipline in Ukraine. The paper gives particular attention to the goals, content, methods, tools and organizational forms of teaching, it is substantiated that all these elements are interrelated, complement each other and form a totality, which represents a system of criminalistic didactics. The results of a survey of 195 4th year students of Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University who have taken a training course in criminalistics are presented. The paper provides illustrative data about the teaching of criminalistics, as well as forms, methods, teaching aids of the relevant institutional discipline. The modern trends of criminalistics are demonstrated; the emphasis is laid on the fact that any changes in the discipline of criminalistics are reflected in its system. The paper considers the content of the concept of criminalistic strategy, the goals and objectives of criminalistic strategy, both in the science of criminalistics and in the practical activities of law enforcement agencies.
