In 1995, Vietnam became a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations – ASEAN, through which, among other things, international relations were regulated with China and the USA. Strengthening ASEAN, with more countries joining the Association and its partners, has influenced the economic development of the region. In this context, tourism has proved to be one of the key sectors of the economy of Vietnam and other ASEAN members, contributing to the competitiveness of Southeast Asia vis-à-vis China.
